There are several East Europe traditions regarding wedding and engagements. Most of these traditions are age old customs that were used to bring the wedding couple together. In recent times however these traditions are regaining popularity as more and more young couples are taking interest in the traditions. These traditions are a great help to bring two people together they can know each other in a better way. In most cases the East Europe traditions of wedding are concerned with long life, happiness, prosperity and of course fertility. Most of these traditions are very colorful and portrays the true colors of life.

In Czechoslovakia the friends of the bride plants a tree in the yard of her home. This tree is decorated with ribbons and egg shells which are painted in bright hues. They believe that the life is long like the tree and the ribbons and egg shells are precious achievements of life. According to East Europe traditions an infant is laid on the wedding bed of the couple to symbolize fertility. After the wedding ceremony the couples will break a plate. The more piece the broken plate will yield the more the success of the marriage will be considered.

In Hungary the bride wears an elaborate piece of head dress in which the wheat strands are woven to ensure fertility. The new bride also gets an egg as a present which she has to smash as a part of East Europe traditions of wedding. This ritual insures the health of the future children of the bride. The bride also traditionally presents the guests with seven scarves to mean that she wants long happy married life with the groom.

In Poland as a part of East Europe traditions of wedding the parents of the couple present them with ye bread that has slat sprinkled on it as well as a glass of wine to ensure that the couple never goes hungry and get the health an happiness amidst the difficulties of life.

As part of the popular East Europe traditions the would be brides of Bulgaria toss a dish full of wheat coins and a raw egg over her head just before the wedding. If the dish is broken it is considered as a good sign. If the bride and the groom enters the church with their right foot first then it is also considered as a sign of happiness in the future. The mother of the bride throws flowers in the path before the couple to ensure the health, happiness and purity in future. The mother of the groom feed the couple with honeyed cake so that they have a long and sweet marriage.

In Croatia the guests form a circle around the well of the church for three times to signify the Holy Trinity. After that every guest throws an apple into the well to ensure fertility of the couple. In Romania the girls start planning their wedding from the age of six and start collecting treasure which are given in their wedding. The East Europe traditions also include a lot song and music through which wedding is celebrated.
